In their own words
This incredibly generous grant will allow our food bank to purchase much needed chicken, eggs and peanut butter so that we can continue to serve our struggling neighbors in their times of need. With soaring energy and food costs, our clients need to be able to count on our food bank more than ever.
Getting to know Custer County Food Bank
The Custer County Food Bank is an independent non-profit organization, operating under the supervision of a local board of volunteers and one paid part-time position. Our mission is to provide approximately one week's worth of nutrition to individuals and families in need. Our funding comes from several sources which include local foundations, local businesses, and organizations as well as individual donations. We also apply for grants when available…
Project Protein is an effort to purchase chicken, peanut butter and eggs for our client's monthly food baskets. Unfortunately, with massive cuts to TEFAP funding our access to donated meat, peanut butter and eggs has been greatly reduced, requiring new efforts to fund the purchase of these items.
