In their own words
Sunshine Division's mission is to provide immediate food relief to Portland metro families and individuals in need, as we have been doing for over a century. Generous Nourishing Neighbors funding will be used to purchase the food needed to feed local families through a variety of distribution methods including our two Free Food Markets and home delivery services. Our goal is to ensure Portland families can always access food and have the volume and variety of foods needed to mitigate hunger and keep their families well fed.
Getting to know Sunshine Division
Sunshine Division provides immediate food relief to Portland metro families and individuals in need.
Sunshine Division is seeking support for food purchases to ensure adequate inventory, variety of food choices, and volume of nutrient-dense refrigerated and frozen foods across all our distribution channels: two free food markets, home delivery, precinct 24/7 emergency, partner agency network, and school distribution. This year we have had to budget $600,000 for food purchases alone to meet expected demand including over the holiday months when demand is particularly high.
